Ten Soldiers Injured in Yemeni Defense Minister’s Assassination Attempt
At least ten Yemeni soldiers were wounded, three of them their injuries described as serious, as a result of a blast aimed at the convoy of the Yemeni Defense Minster on Tuesday.
Informed military sources said to Aden Online that a bomb car was in the convoy of the Yemeni Defense Minister, Mohammed Nasser Ahmed, while he was on the way to the headquarters of the Southern Military Sector, to meet Mahdi Maquala, the head of the Sector in the district of Tawahi.
“The vehicle exploded in the middle of the convoy, and sounds of shots were heard just after the explosion.” An eyewitness said.
The website of the Ministry of Defense said that a bomb car exploded when it was passing by the convoy of the Minister., which led to injuries among a number of the Minister’s guards and the death of the suicide bomber.
The Ministry accused what they named: “terrorist extremist elements” of the assassination attempt.
Later, units of the Yemeni army developed new checkpoints, preventing the passers by and vehicles from approach.
